| Description: |
| This 4’ x 8’ NCAA Banner was awarded to the Friars in 1964 for reaching the First Round of the NCAA tournament. It has been hanging from the rafters of the Dunkin’ Donuts Center for years. The distinguished head coach Joe Mullaney led the Friars to several NCAA and NIT appearances, with this NCAA appearance in 1964 being the first. During the first round of the NCAA tournament the Friars fell to Villanova, 77-66. During his reign, Mullaney had established Providence as an Eastern powerhouse and national contender. This appearance in the NCAA was just one accomplishment from the Friars during the Mullaney years. |
